Photo shoot Friday's first pic

I once met an awsome woman in a small, disadvantaged youth school. She had big dreams. She is making her dreams come true with lots of hard work. That lovely young woman recently helped me out with a photo shoot for my small lil Etsy shop. My vintage finds were not selling as well as I wanted.....my crappy little mannequins looked just that...CRAPPY!....which did nothng for the look of my clothes.

She found me a photographer: the amazing Ricky Lie http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ricky-Lie-Photography/67054584910?ref=share#!/pages/Ricky-Lie-Photography/67054584910 who was willing to build his portfolio and take my photos

She found me another model who also wanted to build her portfolio http://www.facebook.com/IsabelleHL.model

and now, here I have the first shot and I couldnt be happier!
Thank you Nadia, for your help and support

Look kids, I made you....stuff

My kids will laughingly tell you that Im not one for baking cakes and biscuits. They heap praise and love on me whenever I do venture into sweet land.

I was inspired by my good friend, who has turned her hippy superfood love into a new business venture. She is doing well....vegan, bad stuff free, good stuff infused balls.

So I went shopping for good stuff. $60 later, two bags of super awsome healthy stuff.

I experimented. It turned out sorta ok. Well, all the balls got eaten, even by my son with HFA (High Functioning Autism) who rarely eats anything that is good for him by choice.he said "I dont wanna know whats in this cause it tastes too good"

So heres the recipe: Makes around 25 balls with no cooking needed.
1 cup Quinoa Flakes
1/2 cup Almond Meal
1 cup Oat Bran
2 tblspoons Chia Seeds
1 cup chopped craisins (Cranberry Raisins)
10 chopped Dates
1 cup puffed rice
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
4 tbls melted butter
1 cup honey

Mix all dry ingrediants and fruit
make well in centre and slowly add butter and half the honey mixing well
add more honey as you need it but you may not need all of it. Chia seeds turns glutinous when mixed with water, so you could easily substitute the honey for mixing the chia seeds with water first. I love the honey as you need thew sweetness to convince you its nice.

Lots of mixing. Roll into balls and roll in cocoa and coconut. I added some Milo in as well for extra sweetness.

Laura Ashley

Found the Laura Ashley dress I had stashed......I love this fabric and print but the style of dress is for a woman without hips. I, have hips. Great shelves of child friendly hips that never need accentuating.

I have decided to upcycle this dress for me. Im going to go for a 90's grunge style short skirt, but raise the waistline to just under bust. The original dress has some lovely detailing in this section which I don't want to lose.

I may save the top of the dress and convert into a bolero style light jacket. The trick to pulling this ensemble off will be adding black tights and a band tshirt to bring the girly factor back to manageable levels.

Sold!

4 sales so far in the Etsy shop.....slowly starting to get somewhere, but all in all I much prefer the Etsy selling and buying experience than Ebay. So much more hassle free (and nicer people too!)

So yesterday's sale was the gorgous cotten flowery maxi dress with cute red ties at front. I'm glad it has a new home so I can stoip trying it on in hope it will suit me bahahahaha

Have somehow twisted or pinched a nerve in my back during the night (must have been some dream!) and am now in a state of agony. Trying to tell brain its ok and sooth with coffee....bgut will be hunting for something stonger soon......the thought of going to work bugs me when I'm distracted by pain!

4 more working days until 3 weeks holidays....YEAH BABY!!!!

OMG Stuart Membery...so 80s

http://www.stuartmemberyhome.com/fashion-detail.php?sef=7

I found a Stuart Membry bomber jacket recently, but I think I will hang onto it for a while, hell, I might even try wearing it....
My mum loved this label in the eighties, finding the jacket reminded me of her so much.

Part Two: $2 week in V Town

Ok, so I'm driving to work and remember there was more to the story....my mind does tend to wander from time to time.....am so very easily distracted...

So, I go on Sunday morning to suss out the Swap Meet at the Wanneroo Showgrounds. (Had been considering selling there til I actually experienced the event....Jimi Hendrix was right.....no freaking way am I ever getting up in Winter to go thru that particular experience from a sellers point of view.... One lady said she was trying to set up her shop in the dark, and peeps were trawling thru her stuff in the freakin dark to find a bargin!!!!!

After finding a Playstation 1 with arounmd 40 burnt games, deducing that the PS must be microchipped, which in nerd land, is apparently a great thing, I was about to leave emptyhanded for myself, when I spied a stunning frock on a teeny lonely little rack. The lovely nonna type lady grabbed my ear for a bend and casually mentioned that the dress I was fingering was handmade by her, FOR HER WEDDING!!!!!!

It has sweetheart sleeves with cute lil buttons (That she pointed out cost her $1 each) Gorgous pleats and is a navy blue.... and I love it to bits. It has a bit of a sailor feel to it. Im in love.
And,

It was $2.

And that folks, is why I thrift shop.

$2 week in V Town

I've been thinking about starting a blog for ages.

I have been thinking in status updates and blog posts in the shower. Am I a freak? Quite possibly!!!!

So, my $2 week!

Dropped Kid 2 at PEAC (Primary Extension Academic CHallenge) and accidently kept going.....FANCY THAT!

And, of all places, I ended up at my favourite Op Shop for tutus and fancy dress (Which I turn into frocks...later) Ok well I will when I find some time... so for now, they are in a corner in a bag with other VEY useful items.

So I leave said Op SHop with a rather large bag of tule sewn into various arrays, each item being $2 each.....

Still munching on the results of another detour (Home made pork crackle bits of sin from the Adriatic Butchers....might as well insert them straight into my hips), I accidently dropped into the local dump recycling station (Outdoor op shop) and left with 2 gorgous vintage cases and a peace offering for pretend hubby, a $2 dart board.

Now, the $2 dart board has its own story. But as this post is about my $2 week the dart board story can be the next post.....

So Friday found me at another local oppie, where I picked up a collection of oh-too-cute glass "I dream of Jeanie" bottles in an assortment of different colours. (Photos will be coming when I work all this blogging nonsense out) They almost have their own story too, but the funniest part nis.... I left these purchases in the car....as my pretend hubby sometimes has a mini fit when I bring my stuff home. I needed to sense out his mood first and sneak them in at the best moment.

Saturday, should not have been that moment.

As a roadside verge rubbish pick up is looming (Yet another story there of how bad I drive when said verge pick ups are happening) pretend hubby started mini fitting about me going thru all my crap (Actually not crap but wondeful op shop finds) and finding stuff to put on the verge....(AS if) I stood my ground, sent everyone outside, so I could clean the house, and gave them fee reign on finding verge items FROM OUTSIDE!!!!!

After I had made the house glow to a shine that could possibly obscure the glint of coloured glass bottles from view, I carefully retrieved the glass bottles from where I had hidden them under the bed, and arranged them lovingly on the top shelf in my kitchen.....

Oh I heart those bottles!

Anyway, as I should be getting ready for work, the crux of this tale is that at some point, all 3 of the males I adore were gathered in the kitchen when pretend hubby announce "I dream of Jeanie" and they all murmur about like the pretty bottles.
Wonders will NEVER cease
